"PokeRide in Sinnoh Remakes"

I think it's safe to say that, after Sun and Moon, no one's really missing having to load their party pokemon with a mess of HM moves that waste move slots in battle. Clearly they create more freedom in team building and encourage exploring.HOWEVER, once we get into remake territory, Gamefreak errs on the side of preserving the original functions of the games. Just look at ORAS with its EIGHT HMs, up from five in XY.But I think the compromise is clear. For every place an HM is given to you in the original DPPt, substitute it for a new Ride Pokemon. This way you can preserve the original obstacles of the Sinnoh region without having to resurrect HMs after they were sentenced to a fiery death.Of course, since we're in a new region, it would only make sense to use Sinnoh native Pokemon. So here's how I imagine it working out:Rock Smash: Rampardos - That cranium was meant for smashing things and who doesn't want to be riding around crushing rocks on the back of a dinosaur? I think this is extra appropriate given that Rock Smash was given to you by Roark, whose signature Pokemon is Cranidos.Cut: Gallade - Blades for elbows. What more do you need? (Though they need some kind of model that shows the trainer with the Pokemon, so piggybacking? Unless someone else has a way to make this look good)Defog: Staraptor(?) - I am honestly not sure with this one. Really it could be any Pokemon with wings, so can anyone think of one that is particularly unique/funny?Fly: Drifblim - I was originally thinking of Staraptor for this, but Drifblim is such a unique pokemon! It's a hot air balloon Pokemon. Just imagine sitting in a basket carried by one or hanging from its arms as it lifts you over Sinnoh!Surf: Floatzel - Floatzel is a raft with tails for a motor. I think this is a pretty straightforward choice.Strength: Bastiodon - Another cool dinosaur mount. I think it's big flat face could feasibly push some boulders around. Plus, like Roark and Rampardos, Bastiodon is the signature of Byron, whose badge lets you use Strength. Now I could also see them reusing Machamp for this considering it's Sinnoh native, it saves on having to model a new Ride Pokemon, and preserves the comedy of being bridal-carried by a swole Pokemon. However that last point might be moot because:Rock Climb: Bibarel - How can we go through this list without honoring the epitome of HM slavery, the derp master Bibarel? It could learn it in gen iv, the other (feasible) slots are filled, and is there a mount more majestic than an enormous buck-toothed beaver? (Chuggaaconroy reference)Waterfall: Mantine (?) - Another one I'm kinda unsure on. I feel that Waterfall would be hard to animate with a fully modeled Pokemon, especially with with gen vii's overworld design. Mantine might work since its an underwater dwelling pokemon that can fly through the air, but I'm open to suggestions! So that's my proposal for integrating PokeRide into possible Sinnoh remakes to ensure HMs never see the light of day again. What do you guys think? Do you have any other suggestions on how to implement this or which pokemon should replace each HM?EDIT: Spelling via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2n8YCih
