"Does anyone still invest in fire types?"

#PokemonGO: I hardly ever see ice and grass types in my local gyms anymore. With the demise of Lapras and most Exeggutors maxed out around 2600 CP, they just aren't used as defenders. And they were the best ones for their types, which means there isn't a need for a good fire type attacker. I can't remember the last time I used my Flareon or Arcanine, and I have great ones.
