"A comprehensive prestige team designed for survival"

#PokemonGO: So the imminent gym overhaul may mean that this entire post is soon for naught, but I figured I'd share it all the same. I wrote this list up for my own team, but since prestiging is not particularly an offensive matter, I figured I'd share this with others. It was crafted out of necessity for a mostly grass and water biome, but our gyms are mostly dominated with Vapes, Gary's, Rhydon, Blissey, and Dragonite. I have an entirely different prestige team for getting past Blissey, so that list isn't included here. This list is entirely subjective, so feel free to copy, modify, adapt, or comment!Umbreon w/ Feint Attack & Foul Play: Umbreon is a tank. Experience has taught me he’s the absolute best to take on the Psychic trio (Alakazam, Espeon, and Exeggutor). One or more of these guys is critical.Lanturn w/ Charge Beam & Thunderbolt: Lanturn is also a tank. With the addition of dragon tail Gyarados, our delicate electric types go down even quicker, even while dodging. Several other electric types work fine against Gary with bite, but Lanturn can survive a beating for those who aren’t as great at dodging.Skarmory w/ Steel Wing & Sky Attack: Skarmory isn’t a tank, but it is the only ‘mon capable of resisting all of Snorlax moves except Lick and Earthquake. Steel resists psychic, normal, and other steel damage, whereas flying resists ground. Steel Wing and Sky Attack top the DPS rankings for both quick and charge moves, so this makes Skarmory the best possible option to face a Snorlax and survive.Tangela w/ Vine Whip & Grass Knot or Power Whip: This is the must have of the must have. I have three of these in my prestige team and I still want another. Vaporeon are still everywhere, and now Rhydon are residing high in gyms, and the speed of Tangela is kryptonite for both. Vapes are have wimpy quick attacks but two charge attacks are hard to dodge. Rhydon hits so hard that you must dodge everything.Vaporeon or Blastoise w/ Water Gun & Hydro Pump: Water types aren’t as strong against Rhydon as grass, but they do tank better if you prefer survivability. They are essential to have on hand to prestige the occasional fire type, but you probably only need one. I wouldn’t recommend Golduck or Starmie as prestigers for being so delicate.Sandslash w/ Mud Slap & Earthquake: This is your backup for a fire defender when one isn’t enough. Ground is strong against fire, but having one of these on hand is good just in case you run into an occasional electric defender.Ninetails w/ Fire Spin & Overheat: Having a fire type isn’t really necessary except for steel types, like Scizor’s dual weakness to fire. There are multiple options for fire type prestigers, but Ninetails is the tankiest of the lot.Hypno w/ Confusion & Future Sight: There are multiple psychic types that can have this moveset, but Hypno takes the trophy for the tankiest once again. He’s only helpful against poison or fighting types, but you rarely find these in gyms. Just one will do.Poliwrath w/ Rock Smash & Dynamic Punch: Lapras doesn’t show up as much in gyms anymore, but fighting is still the best approach. You really need a Poliwrath for Tyranitar’s double weakness to fighting types. He’s extra tanky and I always love my prestigers tanky.Lapras w/ Frost Breath & Ice Beam or Blizzard: Yeah, I know, this is TOUGH to obtain. If you do though, there’s no better means to prestige against Dragonite, because Lapras is extremely tanky. Dewgong w/ Frost Breath & Blizzard is also pretty tanky, but more delicate alternatives include Cloyster and Jynx w/ Frost Breath & Avalanche. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2pilTve
