"With the coming Gym emptying and closure time for Niantic to introduce 'honey pot' gyms to catch spoofers"

#PokemonGO: A 'honeypot' in computing is a deliberately isolated piece of software or networking or computer designed to attract and catch hacking/infection/etc attempts. In the real world there are multiple examples of gyms which are only accessible at certain times of day/times of year which could be used as honey pots for spoofers. For example there's a National Trust park near my home with a gym in the centre. The park is only open between 10:30am and 5:30pm 7 days a week, and there's no way to reach the gym outside of those hours without trespassing or spoofing. Three instinct spoofers I've caught out cheating before (when you're the only one stood at a gym in a park with nowhere near by to hide and someone else takes the gym from you it's pretty conclusive) regularly claim the gym and frequently do so around 11pm at night. It should be fairly manageable to flag any accounts that interact with designated 'honey pot' gyms at certain hours of the day for manual review. Does anyone think this is worth doing? Particularly is it worth directly messaging /u/NianticGeorge or contacting Niantic support with these gym locations? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2sAOkKM
