"Conjecture: Golden Fisherman medal and Golden Pikachu Fan have zero effect in the game"

#PokemonGO: I know that Niantic likes to hide inner workings of their games, to give us the joy of discovery. The very first Shiny 'mon released into the game was Magikarp, and its evolved Gyarados. Magikarp also has a medal related to how many ("big") ones you've caught. The next Shiny 'mon released was Pikachu, and its evolutions. It also has a medal related to how many you've caught.I have yet to achieve Gold on either. I also have not yet found any Shiny 'mon anywhere. In a hypothetical "coulda/woulda/shoulda" fantasy world, Niantic could have increased your odds of finding Shiny specimens based on how far along your medals have progressed.Anybody care to science, that Niantic did no such thing?
