"The difference between Suicune and Vaporeon is caused by Niantics formula for porting stats and it makes no sense"

#PokemonGO: The way that the current formula works gives preference to pokemon that have a larger difference between their base attack/defense and their special attack. Basically, rather than just adding the two together, they are adding 75% of the difference between the base and special stats to get the go stats. As an example, if pokemon A has 100 base attack and 100 special attack, he ends up with ~200 attack in go (there is a speed component that isn't factored in here). If pokemon B has 120 base attack and 80 special attack, he gets ~230 attack in go.Stamina is also 2x as much as base game HP. HP in Go is half of Stamina. I'm not sure why they would do it this way, but this means that +1 IV in Stamina is half a point of HP. Maybe they do this because Attack and Defense are effectively doubled up.In the main game, all of the eeveelutions have a stat total of 525 and the 3 birds and 3 beasts have of 580. Here are the stat totals in GoVaporeon: 642Jolteon: 563Flareon: 580Espeon: 585Umbreon: 566Articuno: 621Zapdos: 621Moltres: 615Raikou: 631Entei: 641Suicune: 615As you can see, Vaporeon is not only the strongest of the Eeveelutions and stronger than Suicune, but it's also stronger than the other 5 legendaries listed. This happens because there is a huge difference between Vaporeon's base and special stats effectively adding ~67 stat points. Flareon and Jolteon have the same difference in stats, but have half the HP of Vaporeon, which means that Vaporeon also gains twice as much in stats as them.Rather than trying to port a pokemon's stats based on the higher attack/defense stat in the main game, if they just added the stats together the better pokemon in the main game would always be better. If they were to do this, here are the approximate stat totals for those pokemon.Vaporeon: 584Jolteon: 496Flareon: 518Espeon: 505Umbreon: 548Articuno: 594Zapdos: 590Moltres: 592Raikou: 585Entei: 613Suicune: 603This would at least make Vaporeon just shy of the legendaries in terms of stat total, but Suicune would be an improvement over Vaporeon and there would be no question about using the legendaries over the eeveelutions. As a side note: Blissey's base attack and defense are both 10, which is why it is such a tank. This method would seriously nerf Blissey in both attack and defense. In the interest of just seeing what would happen if you just stopped doubling HP to get Stamina in order to get Vaporeon's stats in line with the other Eeveelutions like the main game (wouldn't change anything in the game, unless you still cut STA in half to get HP, which would be an interesting change), here are their stats.Vaporeon: 512Jolteon: 498Flareon: 515Espeon: 520Umbreon: 471Articuno: 531Zapdos: 531Moltres: 525Raikou: 541Entei: 526Suicune: 515This normalizes almost all of the stats across the board. And in the interest of seeing what would happen if you both simply added the attack and defense stats respectively and set Stamina = HP:Vaporeon: 454Jolteon: 431Flareon: 453Espeon: 440Umbreon: 453Articuno: 504Zapdos: 500Moltres: 502Raikou: 495Entei: 498Suicune: 503So, this would have 3 benefits as I see.Legendaries are legendary and should be upgrades over same-type attackersIV for HP would be a bigger factor. In fact, IVs across the board would be a bigger factor as all of the stats decrease, making IVs become a bigger percentage of the stats. The internal stats are normalized similar to the main games. This is mostly a cosmetic change unless they would also decide to continue cutting Stamina in half to get HP. It could also be helpful with a quick eyeball check for which pokemon are the best for those who look past CP when picking attackers.tl;dr: Vaporeon is unfairly boosted up by the stat formula that Niantic has chosen and changing that formula to a simpler one could make Vaproeon an equal to the other eeveelutions rather than the legendaries. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2wuqsrz
