"Fun solo/duo Alakazam experiment"

#PokemonGO: [Disclaimer -- this is a fairly trivial account, but fun enough to share.] I was walking Pokestops with a player I'd recently met, when we saw an Alakazam raid. I knew I couldn't solo it (I have only one Tyranitar, so far), so I asked if he wanted to do it together, just for fun. (Neither of us needed the Alakazam.) As we walked there, and talked about raids, I found, despite his high level, he hadn't done any soloing. I mentioned the need for Tyranitars. He showed me he had five. I suggested he try to solo the Alakazam. Being a thoughtful young man, he pointed out that if he won, that would leave me out, since he knew from our discussion that I couldn't do it alone. I was fine with that. And I was curious to see whether he could win by himself. Then I realized that if we both went in, and I didn't attack at all unless it was clear he wasn't going to win, he could test out his Tyranitars just like it was a solo battle, and either way, we'd both win. In the end, he didn't have the power to solo the Alakazam (it had Confusion / Shadow Ball), so I joined in for the final 60 seconds. It was definitely a fun experience.tl;dr: You can let a friend test out a solo raid you can't handle, and not miss out on the rewards, by going in together and not fighting until it's clear he won't win.[Edited to add: TableforRambo made a good point. It would have been better to let the raid time out and do a second battle. That way, I would have gotten more reward balls.] via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2hMXeAT
