"Community Day, AKA Dratini Day: Deciding When to Pinap, Based on Guaranteed Catches. (Edition for Silver and Bronze Dragon Tamer)"

#PokemonGO: Here is the original, which discussed how I plan on deciding when to pinap Dratini based on guaranteed catch rates.By far the most popular piece of feedback was that the information was not useful to players with Silver/Bronze medals. I assume for a lot of the examples that trainers have the Gold Dragon Tamer Medal. So I've done the examples again specific to Silver/Bronze medals! The results are actually similar.SILVER MEDALPokemon Go Plus with Silver MedalThe PoGo+ has less than a 50% chance of catching a level 11 Dratini or higher. Your chances are less than 50-50 for all Dratini level 11 or higher. The PoGo+ has less than a 40% chance of catching a level 19 Dratini or higher.Guaranteed Catches for Silver MedalYou are guaranteed to catch Dratini which is level 1 or level 2 if you curve a regular ball and have a Silver Dragon Tamer medal. This is guaranteed to apply to any Dratini 37 CP or lower. (still the same!)You are guaranteed to catch a Dratini level 4 or lower if all in the following list apply (This is guaranteed to apply to any Dratini 87 CP or lower):You have the Silver Dragon Tamer medalYou throw a curveballYou use an ultraballYou throw a "Great" toss (regardless of the size of the circle, provided that it does register as a "Great" toss)You have a 90% or higher chance of catching Dratini which are up to level 17.5 if you throw a "Great", curveball, use ultra ball and have a silver medal. This applies to Dratini 334 CP or lower.BRONZE MEDALPokemon Go Plus with Bronze MedalThe PoGo+ has less than a 50% chance of catching a level 9.5 Dratini or higher. Your chances are less than 50-50 for all Dratini level 9.5 or higher. The PoGo+ has less than a 40% chance of catching a level 16 Dratini or higher.Guaranteed Catches for Bronze MedalYou are guaranteed to catch level 1 or level 1.5 Dratini - they have a 100% catch rate, regardless of any other/bonuses. This is guaranteed to apply to any Dratini 27 CP or lower. You are guaranteed to catch a Dratini level 4 or lower if all in the following list apply (This is guaranteed to apply to any Dratini 77 CP or lower):You have the Bronze Dragon Tamer medalYou throw a curveballYou use an ultraballYou throw a "Great" toss (regardless of the size of the circle, provided that it does register as a "Great" toss)You have a 90% or higher chance of catching Dratini which are up to level 15 if you throw a "Great", curveball, use ultra ball and have a bronze medal. This applies to Dratini 287 CP or lower.Addressing Flee RateIf a Dratini is guaranteed to be caught, it will not hop out of the ball. By definition, if you have a 100% chance of catching a Dratini, it has a 0 flee rate.Flee rate matters when your catch rate is lower than 100%. I've arbitrarily decided that I will not give pinaps to Dratini when there is less than a 90% chance of catching it on the first ball, and will instead give it a razz/golden razz.If you decide to look into flee rates and come up with something interesting about when to pinap or how to decide, I'd love to hear it. However, I won't be looking into it myself.Small tips to get a bit closer to the next Dragon Tamer Medal:Keep your Dragon Scales! Evolve Seadra into Kingdra, because Kingdra is part Dragon type, so it counts towards your medal.Evolving a Dratini to a Dragonaire or a Dragonaire to a Dragonite counts as a new Dragon pokemon towards your medal. That is, if you have Dratini you are willing to evolve and candy to spare.Guaranteed Catches - ClarificationIt's been pointed out to me that the Catch Calculators are not 100% accurate. They do round up to 100% in a lot of cases. All of the assumptions I've made regarding guaranteed catch rates depend on when the website I used decided to round up to 100% from 99.xx%.I hope this helps =) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2nH5EZL
