"The Case For and Against the Rumored Evolution Event"

#PokemonGO: Long Post AheadWith all of the news and rumors going around about the supposed “Evolution Event”, and all of the arguments about why the event would be happening or why it wouldn’t, I thought I would compose a sort of “Court Case” style post about why the event would happen or not. To begin, I present you all with Evidence File 1 for why the event should be expected:The leaker and source of the event news is trustworthy, credible, and has been correct numerous times in the past for previous events. Although is has been a while since leaking an event, there’s no reason to not believe what this guy was saying. He correctly predicted (based off of his course Team Eevolution) the Water Festival that happened in March of 2017, shiny Magikarp and all. He also correctly predicted the Eggstravagnza Event of 2017, saying we Trainers should expect Double XP and something about 2KM eggs being better, both of which were true.To counter the point of why the Evolution Event should be expected as true, I present Evidence File 1 for the Against Side:The source of which the leaker got the news from has not posted anything about the event yet (Team Eevolution), leading to the assumption that the leaker did not get his information from that source, thus not being trustworthy. Also, the leaker has not posted about any leaks in a long time, which makes people believe that he wanted some free karma or just wanted to be recognized as a leaker again. With all of the holes in his credibility, one can assume that he shouldn’t be believed.Evidence File 2 for why we should believe the leaker: Scizor’s Catch Rate was added to the game a few days prior to Go Fest, and Scizor has so far not seen the ability to be caught. This brings us to the conclusion that Scizor will be obtainable through a catch in the near future, and with the leaker saying that Pokémon that need Evolution Items from Gen 2 will be obtainable in raids, specifically mentioning Scizor, for this event, it makes sense that this would be true. Also, in the summer photo posted with the Sinnoh starters, Scizor was the only Pokémon included that needed an evolution item. This is also clear evidence, in the game’s coding, that can be seen that backs up the idea that this event will happen. Why else would Scizor’s Catch Rate be in the game?Evidence File 2 for why we shouldn’t believe the leaker: Generation 4 and new Evolution items are not anywhere in the code. Without sprites, movesets, stats, sound files, and data pertaining these new additions, there can’t be any new additions. However, on the flip side, trading and the friends feature was nowhere to be seen in the code. Yet we got that feature announced by Niantic unexpectedly and through an update rolled out after the feature’s announcement. I wouldn’t be surprised if Niantic did this exact same as to not reveal anything. After this argument that there’s no coding, there are no other arguments that are true arguments that suggest the leaker is not true. Thus, all other evidence files will be in the is happening section.Evidence File 3: Eevee Community Day. Why in the world would Niantic have an Eevee Community Day if a.) Leafeon and Glaceon weren’t out and b.) there’s no way to guarantee Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon a second time? It simply would make sense to see the two Gen 4 Eeveelutions alongside elemental stones to get the three other non-guaranteed Eeveelutions.Evidence File 4: The timeline for releasing “Sneak Peaks” of next generations matches up perfectly with this leaked event. We saw Baby Pokémon for Gen 2 in December of 2016, and a big-batch release of Gen 2 in February of 2017. Ten months after Babies we saw our preview of Gen 3 with the Ghost Pokémon for the Halloween Event in October of 2017, and two months after that we saw the first big-batch release of Gen 3 in December of the same year. August marks ten months after October’s Preview for Gen 3, so why not release the Gen 4 Preview with and all-new event on the timeline of Generational releases? Of course that would mean we should expect the big-batch Gen 4 release for October. Any later for the preview of Gen 4 would simply be too much time to wait between Generations. The wait time between Gens 2 and 3 felt like it was too long. Why wait longer? And, finally, Evidence File 5: It’s summertime. It’ll be August. And all Niantic has planned is Eevee Community Day (which, like stated in Evidence File 3, would not make sense without and event like this first) and the Japan Event at the very end of the month. Last year we saw two new legendary birds, the release of all legendary birds plus Lugia, Pikachu Outbreak, the shing Pikachu family, and Mewtwo! Without this major scale type of event, this August could not even come close to comparing with last August. Pretty sure Niantic isn’t that bad.In conclusion, everything the leaker says makes sense. And the arguments that go against the leaker are not much. Other than the fact that there’s no coding, all other arguments are random opinions. In my mind, this event is going to happen this week. And seeing how the leaker did say an update was inbound, the code would most likely all be added in that update. There are many other reasons to believe that Generation 4 is coming soon, and that this event is to be the one to introduce them. The summer photo posted by Pokémon Go with the Sinnoh Starters, the text from The Pokémon Company’s article about trading regarding a Pokémon Storage increased (that was removed a while after it being posted), not to mention the increased spawns of the Gen 4 pre-evolutions and the fact that Niantic representatives are being very quiet about this leak and not much news has circulated recently, are all just more clues indicating the release of Gen 4 (see comments for Niantic rep talk). Of course it could always be fake, just like anything else, but it is also Niantic. Thank you for taking the time to read my post if you got this far. Happy hunting, travelers! Here’s the link to the post for those who didn’t see it: https://ift.tt/2An4ZX5 The Evolution Event is most likely going to happen. All evidence pertaining to why the event will happens outways the evidence that suggests it won’t happen. Eevee Community Day, Niantic doing one update to add all code, and patterns to new Generation additions all add up to suggest why the event is going to happen and that the leaker is true. Let’s all hope Gen 4 is right around the corner!Edit: Added link to original post about the leakEdit 2: Added extra information with more minor indications about Gen 4 being released as a final paragraphEdit 3: Added more information to the final paragraph that suggests further implications of Gen 4 and the Evolution Event.
