"(Some of) The big metagame changes of Gen 4"

#PokemonGO: Gen 4 is probably the most interesting generation so far when it comes to metagame shifts. It’s bringing many powerful new evolutions and legendaries. And so the metagame is bound to change quite significantly. I’m going over what I think are some of the most influential Pokémon from Gen 4.Normal Type: Porygon Z, with a massive 264 ATK, is most certainly going to be the best Normal-type attacker and one of the strongest generalists in Partly Cloudy weather, reaching a maximum of around 17 DPS with Rock HP and Hyper Beam. Even with Charge Beam, Porygon Z is still a decent generalist.Rock Type: Our previous overlord, Smack Down Tyranitar, will face stiff competition from Rampardos and Rhyperior, which both have Smack Down and a Rock Charge move (Rock Slide and Stone Edge respectively). Rampardos will be the new king of Rock DPS, at a whopping 21 DPS in Partly Cloudy weather thanks to 295 ATK.. Unfortunately, Rampardos’ DEF stat is absolute garbage, so don’t ever expect it to survive long. Rhyperior, on the other hand, has great TDO and decent DPS, being more suitable for people who missed out on Larvitar CD. Otherwise, stick with Tyranitar.Electric Type: Raikou has long been considered the strongest Electric Type in the game. And it will still hold this title. However, two Electric types will almost give it a run for its money. Those being Magnezone and Electivire. Magnezone has similar DPS to Raikou, but packing a BOATLOAD of resistances! So Magnezone will surpass Raikou against Flying types. Then there’s Electivire, who got the exact same moves as Raikou (Thunder Shock, Wild Charge), so it is now king when it comes to Electric DPS. However it is frailer than Magnezone and Raikou while boasting much less resistances than the former.Ice Type: Previously, Articuno and Jynx were considered the best Ice attackers (Also Ice Beam Mewtwo), thanks to the former’s high TDO and the latter’s high DPS. Forget those two, because we will get Mamoswine, who combines both of the mentioned Pokémon’s traits into one awesome mix. Welcome your new best Dragon slayer. Weavile and Glaceon will be amazing options, but not as strong as Mamoswine with Powder Snow/Avalanche.Dragon Type: Rayquaza is our current Dragon king. But in Gen 4, there will be three Pokémon that will be almost or as good as it. Those being Garchomp, Dialga and Palkia. Garchomp has great DPS and TDO, on top of not being legendary. Dialga may require Rare Candies, but its resistances are numerous, being the best Dragon type against another Dragon Type. Palkia has the second highest DPS of any Dragon, just behind Rayquaza. But its TDO is superior to our green dragon’s.Dark Type: Tyranitar with Bite/Crunch is currently the king of Dark Types. Eventually, Darkrai, a Mythical Pokémon, will surpass Tyranitar in DPS by far, with Feint Attack/Dark Pulse. Also, Weavile and Honchkrow come as contenders, thanks to a superior moveset to Tyranitar making up for their lower ATK.Poison Type: Make way for Roserade. With a massive 243 ATK and Poison Jab/Sludge Bomb, it will put every Poison type to shame. Enough said.Fairy Type: Move over Gardevoir, it’s Togekiss time! With Air Slash/Dazzling Gleam, Togekiss takes the crown of best Fairy Type attacker, and even though its DPS is slightly inferior to that of Gardevoir, its TDO will be absolutely phenomenal. As honourable mentions, Heatran will be a serviceable Fire Type with its resistances, but with Fire Blast holding it back. Also, Roserade comes as the Grass DPS queen with Razor Leaf/Solar Beam, albeit by a small margin.Remember that the ones I mentioned are just SOME of the big metagame changes with the introduction of Gen 4.Thanks for reading, and hope this helped! via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2OUUDVa
