"Pokedex by the Numbers"

#PokemonGO: Hi everyone, the article on Pokebattler has been updated with the latest and greatest Pogo developments. Having originated on Reddit and migrated to being maintained on Pokebattler, I like to make a post here on the article from time to time in order to raise awareness for those who might be new to the road. This time I took some personal insights and laid them out below as I feel they were worth a discussion.Pokédex totals split out below by Generation.A complete Pokédex in Pokémon Go is 459.A complete Kanto (Gen 1) badge is 151.A complete Johto (Gen 2) badge is 99.A complete Hoenn (Gen 3) badge is 130.A complete Sinnoh (Gen 4) badge is 77.A complete Unknown (Meltan & Melmetal) dex is 2.Insights/takeaways from the landscape of the Pokedex in PoGoOf the 4 generations (plus Meltan/Melmetal) released into PoGo there are 495 maximum Pokemon aka individual Dex entries.459 out of the 495 have been accessible in PoGo (93%).Percentages of each generation available in PoGo:Kanto = 100%Johto = 99%Hoenn = 96%Sinnoh = 72%Percentages per generation that are "not available in the wild". In other words, these Pokemon are either no longer accessible, must be hatched/raided/evolved, achieved via tasks or research etc. Basically you can't go outside and catch it with a Pokeball, Great Ball, or Ultra Ball.Kanto = 3%Johto = 25%Hoenn = 30%Sinnoh = 51%The PoGo trend of limiting certain Pokemon availability has increased gradually with each generation. We see Kanto where only Legendary/Mythicals aren't available in the wild to Sinnoh where 39 of the 77 released Pokemon are not available in the wild. Here is how the 77 Sinnoh Pokemon shake out4 are Out of Rotation: Spiritomb (which isn't even available at this point), Heatran/Giratina/Cresselia (which are out of rotation Legendary Pokemon)7 Egg Hatch Exclusives: These are ALL 7km egg hatches (obtainable via friend gifts only) with slight exception of Shinx which must be raided or hatched in 10km egg and Riolu which can hatched from 10km egg.17 Sinnoh Stone Evolution Item Requirements: 44% of the released Sinnoh Pokemon are tied behind an item that is either obtained once a week or via 3 daily PvP battles/1 team leader battle.1 Legendary Raid: Palkia currently in Legendary raids10 Evolutions through Candy: These must be evolved using candy but do not require a Sinnoh Stone38 can be obtained in the wild162 individual Pokemon can be shiny out of the 459 released dex entries (35%)Kanto = 63 out of 151 (35%)Johto = 40 out of 99 (40%)Hoenn = 43 out of 130 (33%)Sinnoh = 14 out of 77 (18%)There are 711 "unique" Pokemon to collect (excluding genders)459 original dex entries162 shiny Pokemon18 Alolan Pokemon2 shiny Alolan20 "event" Pokemon f.e. Pikachu family w/hats and Squirtle Squad14 of those "event" Pokemon can also be shiny27 additional Unown forms5 additional Spinda forms1 additional Deoxys form3 additional Castform formsPS: For Egg Hatch exclusives, I utilize the Silph Road currently confirmed egg hatch chart. Therefore explaining why certain Pokemon like Nincada, Absol, Mawile etc. are summarized as such in my article.tl;dr 459 out of 495 Pokemon have been released into PoGo (93%) with 35% being available in shiny form. The game has been and is continuing to trend towards having less Pokemon available to catch in the wild, and instead requiring trainers to evolve final forms, or utilize the social aspects of the game (Raids, PvP, friend gifts, trading etc.). Overall, there are 711 "unique" Pokemon to collect. Also check out the article for the dex sliced and diced in many other interesting ways. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2DiPTzT
