#PokemonGO: The game prioritizes some sort of total damage per pokemon calculation it performs over DPS. With it's steel typing and reasonable attack, Aggron tends to be the game's choice for many raid bosses, which is a well-documented frustration for people who raid in smaller groups because there are so many better options when the goal is to kill the boss, not use the smallest number of revives possible.Good news! Dialga also has steel typing and resistances, but a base attack of 275 versus 198 for Aggron. Dialga also has higher overall stat budget than Aggron. (Aggron 198atk, 257def, 172sta = 627pts / Dialga 275atk, 211def, 205sta = 691pts) Provided people in your raid group dump some dust and candy into a Dialga or two, it should become the default autoselect going forward for most of the matchups Aggron was getting chosen. The downside is that it's relatively easy to find lvl30-35 weather boosted Aron and evolve them. Dialga is going to require dust and candy and more effort. Aggron won't go away, but hopefully it'll be the 2nd or 3rd mon in instead of the first.Edits: Someone below asked how I know this. Took a couple of edits but I've added TDO and DPS.I threw in the top dragon autoselect counters versus Latias at Pokebattler at lvl30.Latias with Dragon attacks:Togekiss 625dmg 13.6dpsDialga 566dmg 17.8dpsGardevoir 357 dmg 14.0dpsAggron 320dmg 10.6dpsMetagross 270 dmg 12.6dpsAnalysis: Togekiss with double resistance to dragon attacks and super-effective fairy charge move wins, but Dialga is #2 and far above Aggron in total damage.Latias with Psychic attacks:Dialga 657dmg 19.9dpsMetagross 646dmg 13.0dpsGardevoir 587dmg 12.6dpsAggron 480 dmg 10.8dpsTogekiss 252dmg 16.3dpsAnalysis: Gardevoir picks up a resistance to the psychic attacks, and Metagross a double resistance. Dialga still takes a slight edge in total damage with much higher dps, but this is a situation where level matters for autoselect. Metagross even one level beyond Dialga will probably go in 1st and many people have a lot of high level Metagross after community day. Aggron is outclassed by Dialga significantly in both situations though.If anyone wants to tinker around at Pokebattler my trainer number is 40456 and the team I made is #3. You can try that team against any raid boss to see which situations Dialga isn't the TDO winner.
