"Opinion: Dynamaxing looks like a cool idea for wild Pokemon, as a Totem Pokemon kind of mechanic, but it looks completely idiotic and tacky as a trainer battle mechanic. Trainer Pokemon should just get the Dynamax aura and power up, but not turn into bizarre, oversized pseudo-kaiju."

I saw someone else suggest that wild Pokemon might Dynamax as a result of some kind of "ley line" related phenomenon in Galar, which sounds like a super cool story explanation to me. They could act as stronger "boss" like Pokemon out in the wild, similar to Sun/Moon's Totem Pokemon, and would occur naturally, randomly, and repeatedly throughout the world, keeping exploration and traveling a fresh and exciting experience throughout the game. As a trainer battle mechanic though...?Trainers turning their Pokemon giant and battling with giant oversized Pokemon is straight up tacky. Z-moves with their ridiculous trainer poses were already pretty tacky, but at least they still felt like something that fit the spirit of Pokemon battles. If Dynamaxing has to be something that trainers can do to their own Pokemon, why not just make it a simple power up, glowing and fiery aura and powered up moves included, but without the weird growth into an oversized giant? via /r/pokemon http://bit.ly/2Z8TOZp
