#PokemonGO: The introduction of purified pokémon has brought with it the first non-normal distributions of IVs in PoGo. If you aren't familiar with normal distributions, it is something that looks like this where the x-axis would be the total of the IVs and y-axis would be the number of occurrences.To demonstrate this, here are the IV distributions for:A non-boosted wild catch or shadow pokémon (IV floor of 0)A weather-boosted wild catch or shadow pokémon (IV floor 4)An egg hatch, raid encounter, or quest encounter (IV floor of 10)Each color corresponds to a number of stars in the appraisal system:ColorRatingRed0★Orange1★Yellow2★Green3★Trades also produce normal IV distributions, 5 more in fact:"Good Friend" trade (IV floor of 1)"Great Friend" trade (IV floor of 2)"Ultra Friend" trade (IV floor of 3)"Best Friend" trade (IV floor of 5)"Lucky" trade (IV floor of 12)Notice that in every case, the distributions have a nice bell curve shape to them. This is not the case when purified pokémon are introduced and 2 points are added to all three of a pokémon's stats. Normally this would just shift the IV distribution by 6 (3 stats x 2 points) to the right, but the maximum IV of 15 prevents all possibilities from increasing by that amount. Here are the distributions for:A purified non-boosted shadow pokémon (IV floor of 2)A purified weather-boosted shadow pokémon (IV floor of 6)Now these are still pretty close to a normal distribution, but you'll notice odd spikes at certain IV Totals and more than one possibility of a 45 (100% IV).
