"Wishful Thinking: I Hope Nintendo Takes Over Pokemon"

I’m not gonna be over dramatic here, I’m just going to say my piece.I think there are plenty of things to be excited about with the new games, but there are undoubtedly many things to be disappointed about. It’s hard for me to let myself not enjoy a Pokémon game for a lot of reasons. I’ve done my utmost to remain very positive and excited about these games, but it’s also hard not to feel heartbroken by the changes that are being made.(I mean, what even is the rationale behind the level catching limit? What the fuck are they even thinking?)I can’t really tell if Masuda really believes that he’s making Pokémon the best it can be, or if he’s just wanting to use the sales from the Pokémon name as a financial runway for other GrameFreak IP projects.Either way, his small-studio mindset and his skewed perception of low gamer attention spans just cannot fit with Pokémon. Pokémon has outgrown Masuda and Gamefreak; this much is clear.Every popular Nintendo franchise that made the transition to Nintendo Switch has been a hit - Breath of the Wild was a massive success, Mario Odyssey was incredible, SSBU - Amazing, and Animal Crossing looks like it’s going to give players more creative freedom than ever.Pokémon deserves the same treatment. I may very well still enjoy the new generation (and I am going into Friday full force setting myself up to enjoy it as I stated before.) I just think that Pokémon needs to be placed into more capable hands because GameFreak doesn’t seem to get us, and we definitely don’t get them.P.S. - I get a little spark of rage any time I see the new game’s rival... He just looks like a reskinned Hau in every way possible and I just can’t unsee it. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/33FRcow
