"Mega evolutions by type #7. Dragon"

#PokemonGO: DisclaimerThe stats of mega evolutions are calculated in accordance to the current formulas for transferring stats from the main game series to Pokemon GO (i.e., they are only approximate and may change slightly in the actual release). Movepool of a mega evolution is the same as the movepool of their previous form. All simulations were carried out for Pokemon level 40, 15/15/15, extreme weather, 10% friendship bonus.LegendFAQQ: Do you know that {pokemon name} will be even better than one of those you are talking about?A: Yes, I know. I will definitely write something about it when the time comes. If you want to see a specific type in the next post, or to find the result of some Pokemon versus some boss, you can just ask me.Q: How can you know ahead of time that players will be allowed to have more than one mega evolution in a raid group?A: I don’t know. I'm just trying to do a detailed analysis of each mega evolution, categorizing them by type. Mega Evolutions are great, but they don't break raids, they only make them easier. If they limit number of megas to one per group, then mega evolutions will not affect raids AT ALL. Let's take an example. Let' say a party consisting of one specific mega evolution allows you to deal 5% more damage to a boss than in the case of an usual Pokemon. Then one mega evolution allows you to deal about 5 / (from 10 to 18)% more damage, which is 0.5% at best. Will it be noticeable? No, isn't it? So let's hope that there will be no restrictions, or they will not be so severe.IntroductionA lot of people asked me to write about dragons and here is the promised post. The structure of the post will be a bit unusual: first will be a big introduction, then the results of simulations and one big conclusion. In fact, writing about dragons is not very interesting: they are effective against one type, against themselves. So the question in this case does not stand as "Will they outclass the current tops?", because they will definitely outclass themselves, the question is rather "How much?" and "How much will they outperform other mega evolutions?".Stats of dragon type mega evolutions are shown in the following picture:Stats of dragon type mega evolutionsAbout bossesThe list of bosses that dragon type mega evolutions can be useful against are: Latios, Latias, Palkia, Giratina (Origin, Altered), Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem.Among these bosses, simulations will be carried out for Latios, Latias, Palkia, Giratina (Origin, Altered). For Reshiram, Zekrom, Kyurem simulations will not be carried out, because they occupy the same niche as Palkia: a dragon-type boss with good defense and extremely high attack, killing other dragons with a single hit. All other bosses have already been present in previous posts (except for Latias)Rayquaza is not included in the list since it has double vulnerability to ice, Dialga is not included in the list as it takes neutral damage from dragon type attacks.About mega evolutionsThe following will be excluded from the list of mega evolutions:Altaria due to its low attack;Ampharos, Charizard, Sceptile due to the lack of a fast dragon-type attack, and also because even with a fast dragon-type attack, Charizard and Sceptile are a downgraded versions of Salamence, and Ampharos is a downgraded version of Latias.Dragon vs LatiosThe best Pokemon against Latios are as follows:Latios top countersDragon type mega evolutions result:Dragon vs LatiosDragon vs LatiasThe best Pokemon against Latias are as follows:Latias top countersDragon type mega evolutions result:Dragon vs LatiasDragon vs PalkiaThe best Pokemon against Palkia are as follows:Palkia top countersDragon type mega evolutions result:Dragon vs PalkiaDragon vs Giratina AlteredThe best Pokemon against Giratina Altered are as follows:Giratina Altered top countersDragon type mega evolutions result:Dragon vs Giratina AlteredDragon vs Giratina OriginThe best Pokemon against Giratina Origin are as follows:Giratina Origin top countersDragon type mega evolutions result:Dragon vs Giratina OriginConclusionAs you can see, the higher attack, the higher damage output of a dragon type mega evolution (except for 1 case, Latios vs Palkia). And this is the reason why I've made 1 general conclusion, it is a bit tedious to say that dragons have outclass themselves each time :)vs LatiosRayquaza and Garchomp outperform Mega Houndoom (50.1%) by almost 10 and 2 percent, respectively, Latios and Salamence perform slightly worse, but still pretty good. Latias, as always, is at the bottom of the list. The current tops are outclassed by every mega evolution starting from Latios (# 3).vs LatiasThe current tops are outclassed by every mega evolutionstarting from Salamence (# 4).vs PalkiaThe current tops are outclassed by every mega evolution starting from Garchomp (# 2).vs Giratina AlteredOnly Rayquaza outperforms Mega Gengar (54.2%) by more than 4%. The current tops are outclassed by every mega evolution starting from Salamence (# 4).vs Giratina OriginRayquaza and Garchomp outperform Mega Houndoom (57.7%) by nearly 10 and 2 percent, respectively. The current tops are outclassed by every mega evolution starting from Garchomp (# 2).As a result (TL;DR):Mega Rayquaza is the most powerful dragon type pokemon, it's powerlevel is over nine thouthand.Mega Garchomp is a very good mega evolution that can outclass anyone in terms damage (except Rayquaza).Mega Latios, Mega Salamence - due to the fact that Latios has a higher attack, but a worse moveset, both of these Pokemon are on the same powerlevel, a level that allows them to be slightly better than the current tops, but not enough to compete with other mega evolutions.Mega Latias - after getting mega evolution, it will become stronger, but not strong enough that it would get into raids.Mega Charizard, Mega Sceptile - not included in the list due to the lack of a fast dragon-type move. However, not all is lost for them, the fact is that they have a TAIL, which means they can potentially get a Dragon tail. With this move, they can be roughly between Salamence and Latias by strength.Mega Ampharos also does not have a fast dragon-type move, so thats why it is not in the list. It doesn't have a tail either, so the best it can hope for is Dragon breath. But even if it gets Dragon breath, but with this move it wouldn't outclass even Latias#1 - Bug type: https://ift.tt/3ffxgy4 - Dark type:https://ift.tt/2D3ej4l - Water type:https://ift.tt/2DahYxt - Ghost + BONUS Gyarados with CD move revelance:https://ift.tt/2BMU6PP - Double issue.
