"Who are your *actual* MVP Gym Training Pokemon?"

#PokemonGO: I enjoy dominating the gyms in my small town to the best of my ability, but I actually much prefer training up friendly gyms to flipping rival gyms. Training is significantly harder than attacking for a high level player because you cannot just power through weaker opponents with your OP Dragonite.I've read quite a lot of guides about ideal training strategies and Pokemon, but as a mostly solo player, I just cannot find somebody to place suitable training Pokemon in gyms for me, nor can I find many of the theoretically ideal Pokemon with ideal movesets in the ideal CP range to deal with the training challenges I actually face on a regular basis. So I ended up using quite a few Pokemon way more than I expected to...My actual MVP gym training team are (in reverse order):6) Vaporeon CP 1601 - Watergun / Hydro PumpNothing original here. This thing wrecks any Fire or Rock types. The only reason he isn't further up the list is because I don't actually come across high CP Fire or Rock Pokemon very often.5) Parasect CP 1313 - Fury Cutter / Solar BeamI love this guy because of his flexibility. He feels tanky for a Grass Pokemon of this CP range and forgives mistakes in dodging. He obliterates Vaporeons under 1800 CP and can take on my most hated gym gate keeper (Hypno) if the game is running smoothly enough for me to dodge reliably.4) Raichu CP 1320 - Thunder Shock / ThunderAnother Vaporeon counter, but more so for dealing with Golducks and Slowbro that are surprisingly common around here that make it tricky for my Victreebells to deal with due to the Psychic attacks.3) Ivysaur CP 905 - Razor Leaf / Solar BeamYup ANOTHER anti-water Pokemon, I'm sure this must be a common theme for many people. With his ideal moveset this guy can punch well above his weight and is in the perfect CP range for dealing with many of the gateway Pokemon I deal with. He also feels quite tanky for this CP range, which is important to me cos my game isn't always smooth enough for reliable dodging.2) Graveler CP 909 - Rock Throw / Rock SlideI don't come across very strong Fire or Flying Pokemon very often, but it is quite common to find a ~CP 1400 Flareon or Pidgeot in the gyms around me, and this guy is brutally effective against them.1) Wartortle CP 741 - Water Gun / Hydro PumpI don't have a Vaporeon at this CP range, which I assume would be even stronger, but this little guy is a monster, easily takes down Fire and Rock Pokemon twice his CP and I actually come across those around CP 1100-1400 quite often as gatekeepers in my area, and I always love it when it happens! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2do1seD
