"[Idle Conjecture] Gym prestige change is merely a soft reset, rebalance already planned."

#PokemonGO: So we all (well some of us) moaned about stagnant gyms. Lots asked for Niantic to introduce Team Rocket/destroyer rewards/do something. So Niantic hugely boosted ability to take down a gym, and completely nerfed ability to level it up again. This way we take down all the stagnant gyms ourselves, with help from more casual players (I'm pretty casual in gyms, tbh) and lower levels getting involved. Obviously gyms become completely unstable, lasting for a few minutes and nobody making the very real effort to level them up again. But now we have the environment reset to make gym balancing possible again. This was a soft reset. We'll probably see prestige changes again in a couple of weeks, now with a healthier amount of fresh players, and better access for lower levels. That's my theory and I'm sticking with it.EDIT: I'm not suggesting Niantic will return prestige gain/loss to original values - but that they'll tweak them, maybe add 50% back to gain or take 25% off loss. And it's worth pointing out that this is also a team dominance reset. Nobody dominates while everything is in flux, and teams that dominated before may not dominate again - they may have just been quick off the mark.EDIT: It pretty much goes without saying that local terms and conditions may apply. Not everywhere was full of completely stagnant gyms before this, and not everywhere only has level 3 max gyms now. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2g9iZcG
