"EX raids: a guide on how to kill hype and demotivate players"

#PokemonGO: TLDR: EX raids sucks, divides communities, kills hype and is negative for the game. personal story of how EX raids have pretty much killed the game for me.long story here, started thinking of making it a discussion thread, but felt emotional mid writing so its now a personal story. feel free to discuss the game bits though :) TLDR first for those who cant/dont want to read it. and a second one at the end :Pits been over a month since mewtwo was released in japan, i was hopeful that, like with chicago, it would go live worldwide after a couple days.... obviously it didnt happen. hype was strong at that point, legendaries had been great. everybody was enjoying the summer. couple days later (iirc) the great rewards nerf occured (RIP GRB). hype was still strong though because mewtwo, but it was decreasing due to the nerf and the lack of information provided.legendary birds went on till the 31st (ended the 1st actually) and after weeks of low hype already, we finally get some news. the 3 beasts/dogs/cats (whatever u wanna call them) being released and some mewtwo information. information which personally i felt insufficient. hype lasted for a week or so, people grew tired of the same legendary, the low catch rates and the abysmal drop rates... almost 3 weeks later it seems like people barely play...whatever niantic had in mind with this, it clearly was a bad move. there was a lot of hype, players were having the time of their lives, the only thing they had to do was give us mewtwo a month ago. no EX raids, no nothing just releasing it like a normal legendary. but no, they decided to wait, kill the hype and demotivate players. its getting to the point were the front page is full of "complaint" threads, rather than stories about how much fun we have playing the game. why? cuz nobody is having fun anymore.STORY STARTS HERE:now why does this bother me? well, apart from all this i also have personal motives. ive done over 120 legendary raids since they were released. for the past 2 months pretty much ive dedicated my life to playing pokemon and ive love it for the most part, except the last month or so. say whatever u want, but ive been out everyday playing at least a couple hours (on average, as there were some days i only did daily streaks), and its been good for the most. ive also been able to do other stuff, but my day revolved around doing raids. all this for nothing. the first month was fun. the last month had been, raiding to get mewtwo invites. mewtwo invites im not gonna get, or if i do, i wont be able to attend. why? im leaving on sunday. starting my second year studying abroad, 10,000 kms away from home. a 18 hour trip. all this raids for nothing. testing hasnt even started here, and it probably wont, cuz south america is last or next to last in their list.for the first time in a year of playing this game, ive actually disliked the game. the stress of, only a month left here and if EX raids dont come now i wont be able to take part in them, has been killing me. only the last couple of days, since i decided to give up on the hopes of mewtwo have made it a bit better, but it still sucks. for the first time in almost 20 years of playing pokemon ive felt bad from playing. ive been so stressed with this ive even thought about the idea of cheating so i can go to the raids (spoofing to the raids) if i get invited (i wont do it though, not gonna risk my account, not worth it).honestly, it breaks my heart to spend so much time in something and not be able to achieve what i was looking forward to for months.at this point ive lost all hopes of catching a mewtwo in my home city and ive gotten to the point of feeling that its better if it doesnt come for a while (yes, its a bit selfish from me), but with the invites being extended to europe and asia (according to TSR), its a matter of days (or weeks) before it gets to the rest of the world. yes, im going to europe and might get an invite after raiding there once i get there, but i wont be able to raid with the friends i made here in these 2 months+ and it wont be the same. the worst part is going to be getting invites for raids i wont be able to participate, even worse, taking an invite away from others who could go. thats why i propose a solution.make EX passes not tied to a gym. give an EX pass for X gym and then give an option to use it at another gym at the time they have an EX raid. this way, people wont have to travel back for raids, people on holidays wont be discouraged to raid, people working/at school will be able to use their pass. or simply scrap the EX raid system, nobody benefits from it, it divides communities and nobody is happy. also, having people meet in X place at Y time makes it an easy target for crime or whatever, especially in insecure places. one more thing, improve communication. incomplete information or omitting information is a form of deceiving the player base, something which is unethical (not a legal expert but thinking it may be illegal to an extent too?)im very disappointed by the game, and although Nintendo doesnt make the game, im disappointed by them too, for letting things like this happen. pokemon is supposed to make people happy, and this game is not going to the right direction.to whoever managed to read all this THANKS A LOT! it started as a topic of discussion and ended as a story/rant that i had to get off. it feels much better to get this off honestly, so thanks to anybody who read it and sorry to whoever read it and didnt like it :) also, sorry for any grammar/spelling mistakes and whatsoever, my computer is set to spanish so it sometimes autocorrects and writing this had made me too emotional to go back and re read this. also english is not my native language.also, would be nice if niantic reads some of this (not necesarilly the story part but the part on how it killed the hype) to either apply a change or review their EX raid concept cuz its not good. would tag nianticgeorge but never learned how to.TLDR2: disappointed by the game. the EX raid concept is horrible but its not too late to change it. making EX passes more variable (not tied to a specific gym) could be a possible solution. taking too long to fully release content is a bad marketing idea and kills the players. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2xlwVH3
