"Gold and Silver for the Virtual Console will make it easier than ever to complete a Living Shiny Dex"

At least for Generations 1 and 2. If you don't understand, the mechanics for Shiny Pokemon were a bit different than how they work now. Although the odds were the same, shinies were based on IVs instead of a calculation done by using the Trainer's ID and Secret ID. Now how does this make it easier to get Shiny Pokemon? While breeding, the parents have an effect on what IVs the child will have, which means the parents also have an effect on the odds of the child being shiny. If you breed a shiny Pokemon with any Pokemon (shiny or not) the odds will be about 1 in 64, which although is still low, it is much better odds than the regular 1 in 8192. But, getting a Shiny Pokemon isn't easy, right?Yes, you're technically correct. But you are guaranteed at least one Shiny Pokemon per Gold and Silver save file...I am of course talking about the Red Gyarados. If you get a female, you can get only get a shiny Magikarp, whereas getting a male would allow you to get any Pokemon in the same egg groups as Gyarados, which are:RemoraidGoldeenChinchouQwilfishCharmanderEkansHorseaDratiniI know this isn't many Pokemon, but some of these Pokemon are in other groups. Remoraid, for example, is in the Water 1 egg group, which means you could potentially get a shiny Poliwag if you hatched a shiny male Remoraid then bred it.And let's not forget: Ditto can breed with ANY Pokemon, meaning if you were lucky enough to find a shiny one you could potentially breed every single shiny Pokemon in the Johto Dex. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2ygqJhu
