"A 66,7% IV could be better than a 100% IV Pokemon in the current meta"

#PokemonGO: Proof (look at CP): http://ift.tt/2xSLXVI you probably know in the current battle mechanics, a Pokemon gains energy spamming its quick attack plus a residual gain due to the damage it receives. Some research has shown that a Pokemon gains 0.5% of energy for every HP lost, which is not bad. The faster the energy goes up, the more special attacks a Pokemon can throw in a battle, and thus, more DPS.  Taking this consideration, there could be certain matchups where a Pokemon with a little bit lower Defense stat can benefit this energy gain (without fainting if possible) to maximize its DPS even more.  So in theory, we can consider a Pokemon with A15/D0/S15 (66,7% IV) do more DPS than a 100% IV Pokemon. Obviously this is not always true as the attacker Pokemon can actually faint and lose even more seconds, but it’s POSSIBLE.  To proof if this theory can be true, we are going to use the simulator Pokebattler and do a quick simulation. To make this test a reality my intention is to do it with the Raid tool, but the ‘Custom Raid’ options only allow selecting the Level of the Attackers, not the IVs. It always supposes 100% IV Pokemon. It would be easy to add this function for further and easier testing about the 0 IV Defense thing hahaha ;) So my solution was to use the Pokebox, which is a nice idea extracted from Power Battle GO, allowing you to enter custom Pokemon inside, so it only recommends the Pokemon you have in your team.  You could do your own tests, but I supposed that a higher probability to success on the theory would be using a Pokemon with a fast moveset, that’s why I chose a Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch, which only requires 33% of energy. Selected 3 of them with 100% IVs at level 30 (CP 3146) and other 3 of them at 66,7% IV level 30 (CP 3040) with the Defense IV = 0. The enemy Raid Boss selected is Mewtwo, and the bigger effect to gain more residual energy will be when the defender uses a heavy moveset, that is, attacks that are slow but do a lot of damage, such as Confusion and Hyperbeam.  In this current matchup the theory is true! Showing a higher overall ‘Power’ to the 100% IV Tyranitar (logic), BUT the thing is that we risk Defense to gain more DPS, and we succeeded because the 66,7% IV Tyranitar can beat Mewtwo faster if we look at the ‘Time to Win’ result! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2wr2yMv
