"There’s no feeling quite like thumbing through a physical Pokédex/Game Guide"

I am a 22-year-old teacher, engaged to a wonderful woman, and looking forward to buying a house and starting a family. But I shamelessly sit down and look at one of my old treasures: the Pokémon Platinum National Dex/Game Guide. I love looking through the pokemon’s images, seeing what kind of moves each can learn, and learning more about the game. Since Platinum, I have relied on online Pokédexes for completion and sources for hidden items and maps if I am speedrunning a game. I put down the game for a while, but just picked up Moon again, and fell in love with the series all over again, and made the decision to purchase Ultra Sun to become my “main game”, the place where I house most of my ‘mon and IV breed/EV train. Y was my main game for a bit, but I did not fall hugely into the world after beating Alpha Sapphire, so I never moved my main game upwards. Now, I am committing to that move for the first time in a while, as I do not have the funds for a Switch and am saving for understandably more important acquisitions, and to commemorate that move, I have purchased the Game Guide and Pokédex (pretty cheaply), and am now awaiting their arrival. I feel kind of silly, buying these books that are marketed for children for myself, but I also am filled with a boyish excitement as I am waiting for it to come tomorrow. This post was a heck of a ton more long winded than I wanted it to be, but the point is this: you’re never too old to fall in love Pokémon. I feel like the professional standards of our world press against the enjoyment of entertaintment that is marketed for children, but if you feel at home with a 3DS and a world of adventures and excitement, nothing should take that away from you, no matter how old you are or what you do for a living. I will treasure all of the hours that I have spent on this franchise, and will continue to enjoy it for as long as Game Freak continues to release quality content.Apologies for the long-winded post, but I felt it was a good thing to share with you all. I hope you all have a wonderful year, and accomplish things both great and small, be they in front of a screen or in the world around us. Wish you all the best! via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2DltHEe
