"[Discussion] How I think Niantic should communicate with their playerbase"

#PokemonGO: So, it's pretty far into the game now, but I'd be completely game for this idea:I feel like the way Niantic communicates is justified by them as "not breaking immersion" but the problem is that when things go wrong and everyone bitches about it and starts rage-quitting because we don't know what's happening, they have to come out and communicate anyway. Then everyone is taken out of the immersive nature of the game anyway.I believe that what should have happened from the beginning is that they should communicate with us via Professor Willow, Candela, Blanche and Spark. Add even more NPCs if you want, Niantic. I'd be excited to meet more characters.I think the blog posts, tweets etc should all be part of the immersion.(Bare with me for my examples, as a Mystic member, I may have been slightly biased but I tried to even it out between the teams)Imagine on Twitter, Professor Willow tweets to the 3 leaders asking"Hey, guys. I need you to do some research for me. I've been finding new Pokémon in 10km eggs."And Blanche replies immediately saying"Actually, according to my findings, there's no NEW Pokémon, but I have definitely seen a change in what eggs hatch different Pokémon."Candela replies and says"Blanche, I was right next to you when you typed that and you said you would let me reply. You always need to sound smarter, don't you?"Then Spark replies and says,"Ladies! No need to fight. What we should do is check out which Pokémon are hatching from which egg. Anybody able to help us out?"And thousands of people would start confirming stuff without the "OMG NIANTIC NEVER COMMUNICATES" etc.In-game, we should also get this kind of communication often. I love seeing the event notifications, but I always wish that it instead said something like:"Greetings. It's Blanche again. I found out that in a month's time, there's going to be a Water festival. I am quite excited about this and I hope you'll participate as well. I hear that there will be extra Stardust to be found everywhere. I would certainly invest my time in this if I was you."or"Hi, it's Candela again! Can't wait for the Water event happening next week! It's gonna be great. We need to beat the other teams! Let's show them that we can catch the most Pokémon during that time! Apparently Lures are going to last longer too! This and the extra Stardust sound pretty awesome."or"Hey, guys! Spark here! The Water festival started! Woo-hoo! I don't know about you guys, but I am so stoked. Chat later! I need to help my Grandma catch a Gyarados. Go wild, guys! Oh, wow! I just heard that apart from the extra Stardust and longer lures, eggs might also hatch quicker! Let's do it! See ya later!"Or perhaps we could get communication from Professor Willow AND the other team members. I would love to hear more about how they communicate with each other. Finally, I think it's REALLY important that little mechanics in the game need to be brought to our attention via in-game communication. After walking Eevee for 10km and receiving at least 2 candy, our leader or Professor Willow should come out and say something like"Hmm... Interesting! It seems like Eevee is very happy. It looks like walking together has increased your level of friendship! Maybe this means something?"A bonus part of this would be that if it isn't triggered for some reason, we'd know before trying to evolve it because we wouldn't have gotten the info message. After certain changes like raid times changing, we should be told."Hey, yuvi3000! Just conveying the message, but apparently raids won't be around until 9pm in your area anymore. They're now ending at 8pm."After getting certain items for the first time, we should be given a brief explanation. Sure, I've known about most of the dynamics in this game for years because I love the other Pokémon games, but a lot of people are playing this as their first Pokémon game.A tiny popup wouldn't hurt."Hey, yuvi3000. I noticed you just got a TM for the first time. Do you know how that works?[Yes] [No]You don't know? Okay, I'll explain quick.TM stands for Technical Machine and we use them to teach moves to Pokémon! So, right now, your Pokémon has a fast move and a charge move. If you have a fast move TM, you can change your Pokémon's fast move (if it has any other possible fast moves to learn)! Then if you have a charge TM, you can change a Pokémon's charge move. I personally hate that my Machamp has Heavy Slam. Sure it comes in handy in many situations, but I want it to have Close Combat instead. I'm gonna use a charge TM... YES! It knows Close Combat now. This will definitely help me in the battle I wanted to fight today. Anyway, hope I helped! Bye!"AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, I want Professor Oak to pop up and say "This isn't the time to use that!" but I suppose they'll have to use Professor Willow. Either way. :)What do you guys think? Even if Niantic were to implement this now, I'd be stoked.EDIT: I know this was supposed to be a positive post, but it kinda disappoints me when I realise that even though it took the world by storm, with all these ideas from others on Reddit etc, it shows how much better this game could be. Honestly, I'd be happy doing this for them if I was allowed to officially help. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2tFgtgz
